Passing the test. . . .
"Accountability is defined as an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one's actions." The decision to claim accountability for one's actions is never easy. When we claim accountability, we must admit to having put our needs before others' needs. This gives us the feeling of separateness. The ego teaches us to see ourselves as separate and not a part of the whole. The ego believes in its ultra-importance and doesn't care how its actions affect others. The ego doesn't like us to admit our imperfections. Admitting imperfections is hazardous to the ego. The ego prefers to keep us contained in the dark instead of filling ourselves with more light. The ego fears our decision to claim more light for ourselves because that means eventual death to the ego. Recently, a client continuously admonished her innocence in a situation where she was clearly at fault. I tried to assist this client in claiming her accountability. I knew that this would free her. However, she opted to play the victim card. Was she truly a victim? No. The client convinced herself that she was a victim because no one involved in the situation could see her true essence and good intentions. In this case, the client took a powerless role that ofvictim and claimed that everyone around her was victimizing her. The client failed to see that those who were involved in the situation were merely providing the perfect environment in which she could have risen up and taken accountability for her actions. Sadly playing the victim card is deceiving because it gives us a sense of safety, butwho are we safe from? It is our own eyes that we must face when looking in the mirror each morning. However, the beauty of Spirit is that one failure at a test does not equal full failure. In time, Spirit will provide another opportunity for this client to be accountable. If failed again, another test and another will be provided until a score of a perfect A+ is finally reached. At that time, the lesson is learned and we move onto another lesson and teaching.
